FSU Student Carmen Grimes to Present Senior Clarinet Recital
Frostburg State University student Carmen Grimes will present her senior clarinet recital on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Yungen. This event is free and open to the public.
Grimes will perform “Pastorale Cevenole” by Louis Cahuzac; the first and third movements of “Sonata for Clarinet and Piano” by Paul Hindemith; “Un Seul” by Kalmen Opperman; and “Zart und mit Ausdruck,” “Lebhaft, leicht” and “Rasch und mit Feuer” from “Fantasiestucke in A, Op. 73” by Robert Schumann.
Grimes studies under Dr. Mark Gallagher at FSU. She has been on the Dean’s List, is the secretary/treasurer of the student chapter of the National Association for Music Education and is a Student Success Mentor. Grimes anticipates graduating in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She plans to teach elementary/secondary school, then earn her master’s and doctorate and become a college professor. Grimes is a graduate of Oakdale High School in Ijamsville, Md.
