FSU Student Joseph Louie Will Perform Senior Percussion Recital
Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will present student Joseph Louie in his senior percussion recital, “Eternal Rhythm: Life’s Pulse,” on Sunday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. He will be joined by percussionist Ben Alvey. The concert is free and open to the public. This event will also be livestreamed; click the “Join Stream” button on this page a few minutes before the recital is scheduled to begin, or any time during the recital, to view the live performance
Louie will perform the second movement, “Dance of the Drums,” from “Song and Dance” by Gene Koshinski, “Rhythm Song” by Paul Smadbeck, “Farfenmarch” by Kirk J. Gay, “La fille aux cheveux de lin” by Claude Debussy and “Deus Ex Metronome” by Russell Wharton.
Louie studies under Dr. Mackenzie Jacob LaMont at FSU. He has been on the Dean’s List and is a winner of the FSU Outstanding Music Award. Louie anticipates graduating in May 2024 with a bachelor’s in music education. His career goal is to educate, motivate and inspire future generations of students to learn and appreciate music. Louie attended Southern Garrett High School in Oakland. He is the son of LaRena Naylor and Kevin Louie of Oakland.
