About this Event
First Annual Eat, Learn, Co-op Event Coming to City Place
The first annual Eat, Learn, Co-op event will be held on Tuesday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Place, 14 S. Water St. in Frostburg. Dinner refreshments will be served at Wholesome Harvest Co-op a block away at 30 W. Main St. during the second half of the event. Passover-friendly dishes will be available.
Frostburg State University’s Communication Leadership Lab will work with community partners Wholesome Harvest Co-op and the Western Maryland Food Council to facilitate the event, which is a featured activity of FSU’s Focus Frostburg week of learning about sustainability.
Eat, Learn, Co-op is the next phase of a popular dialogue and deliberation series that began in 2016 called Eat, Learn, Shift. The event will continue to bring together campus and community partners who are invested in the regional food movement. Partners will be invited to share information on their food initiatives and challenges as participants learn about the co-op’s history and mission.
The group also plans to explore how FSU and local partners can “co-operate” further by discussing topics that might include sharing how to support the local food economy and its partnerships, exploring how to address food security issues in the community and learning how to address food waste locally.
Participation is limited, so confirm plans to attend and/or set up a display by Friday, April 12. Contact lab coordinator Dr. Elesha L. Ruminski at elruminski@frostburg.edu or 301-687-4480 or lab assistant Kate Paylor at klpaylor0@frostburg.edu.
