Born in Cumberland, Maryland, and raised just across the border in Short Gap, West Virginia, Raines brings a powerful homegrown legacy to the stage.

A ten‑time International Bluegrass Music Association Bass Player of the Year, Raines has earned widespread acclaim throughout her career, including IBMA honors for Recorded Event of the Year and Song of the Year. Her influence on American roots music was further recognized with her inclusion in the Country Music Hall of Fame’s “American Currents” exhibit in 2019, followed by her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2020.

Rooted in tradition yet driven by innovation, Raines’ music blends hard‑driving bluegrass with fresh musical ideas and fearless creativity. Her band, Allegheny—named for the West Virginia highlands where she grew up—showcases some of today’s most exciting young bluegrass musicians: Ben Garnett on guitar, Eli Gilbert on banjo, Ellie Hakanson on fiddle and Tristan Scroggins on mandolin.

Following the show, Chuck Dicken, WFWM-FM station director, will host a lively and interactive conversation with the artists and audience members.

Pealer Performing Arts Center“Shakespeare in Symphony” brings the timeless stories of William Shakespeare to life through four stunning orchestral masterworks inspired by his plays.

Felix Mendelssohn’s Overture to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” sparkles with whimsy, grace and fairy‑like energy; as BBC writer Andrew Dickson observes, Mendelssohn evokes Shakespeare’s magical world without a single spoken word, even slipping in a playful musical nod to the hapless Bottom’s transformation into a donkey. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Overture to “Hamlet” offers a powerful symphonic reflection of the Prince of Denmark, conveying the drama, inner conflict and tragedy at the heart of the play. William Walton’s Suite from “Henry V,” drawn from his celebrated score for Laurence Olivier’s iconic film, stands as one of the great achievements in cinematic music, blending nobility, pageantry and emotional depth. Sergei Prokofiev’s Suite from “Romeo and Juliet” rounds out the program with sweeping, passionate music rich in lyrical beauty and vivid orchestration, capturing both the exhilaration and heartbreak of Shakespeare’s most famous love story.

Prior to the show, at 6:30 p.m., MSO Music Director, Elizabeth Schulze, will discuss the selections that will be performed and reveal insight on how each composer deftly transforms Shakespeare’s words into music. (Open to all ticket holders.)

A Florida-born, New York-based baritone with a voice steeped in warmth, gravity and soul, McDole creates performances that are both intimate and expansive — honoring tradition while inviting listeners toward reflection, healing and shared imagination.

McDole’s critically acclaimed debut album, “Open Up Your Senses,” blends originals with freedom songs, spirituals and works that speak to justice, unity and ancestral memory. His sophomore album “CHROMA,” coming out on Artwork [PIAS] in November 2026, is a continuation of his musical, intellectual and emotional story.

In 2023, Tyreek earned first place at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, joining a lineage of standout winners that includes Samara Joy and Jazzmeia Horn, and becoming only the second male winner in the competition's history. His competitive pedigree dates back to 2018, when he won the Outstanding Vocalist Award at Jazz at Lincoln Center's prestigious Essentially Ellington National Competition.

Since then, McDole has shared the stage with Kenny Barron, Theo Croker, Terri Lyne Carrington, Nicholas Payton and Nick Jonas, among many others, and has appeared at leading venues and festivals worldwide.
