Zumbathon to Benefit Victims of Superstorm Sandy
Local Zumba instructors Rita Thomas, an instructional technologist in the Department of Academic Computing and Instructional Technologies, and Melanie Lombardi, the Cable Channel 3 manager in the Department of Mass Communication, will host a Zumbathon for Superstorm Sandy victims on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon in the auxiliary gym in the Cordt’s PE Center. DJ HeroStep will spin the music while eight Zumba instructors from the tri-state area will lead the Zumba routines. The suggested donation to participate is $3.
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance program that combines high-energy music and easy dance steps while burning lots of calories.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Food Bank for New York City to help victims of Superstorm Sandy. As one of the country’s largest food banks, their mission is to end hunger in the city by organizing food, information and support for community survival and dignity. Sponsors for the Zumbathon include Life Fitness Management in LaVale and FSU’s Department of Mass Communication.
