Vocal Studio Recital No. 1 & No. 2

FSU Department of Music to Present Vocal Studio Recitals

The Frostburg State University Department of Music will present two recitals by students from its vocal studios, both at 7:30 pm in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. Vocal Studio Recital No. 1 will be held on Monday, Oct. 15, and Vocal Studio No. 2 will be on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The recitals are free and open to the public.

Each performance features music majors from the vocal studios of Gregory Scott Stuart and Francesca Molinaro, performing a mix of classical, opera, jazz and musical theatre styles. The groups will be accompanied by Dr. Joseph Yungen on piano.

MONDAY, OCT 15 program:

Hannah Polk, mezzo-soprano:  "Come you not from Newcastle", and "Sweet Polly Oliver", arranged by Benjamin Britten

Nyia Evans, mezzo-soprano:  "The Ash Grove", arranged by Benjamin Britten

Christopher Hess, baritone:  "Vittoria! Vittoria, mio core" by Alessandro Scarlatti

Ivana Clifford, soprano:  "The Ash Grove" arranged by Benjamin Britten

Rachel Cox, soprano:  "The Monk and his Cat", from Hermit Songs by Samuel Barber, and "The Glamorous Life", from A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim

Karl Loots, tenor:  "Brother Will, Brother John" by John Sacco

Andrea Gormley, soprano:  "Alexis, my loved one ... The fearful deed is done" from The Sorcerer by Gilbert & Sullivan

Gabriel Harper, tenor:  "Oh, is there not one maiden breast", from The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan

Christopher Hess, baritone:  "The Seven Deadly Virtues", from Camelot by Lerner and Loewe

Patience Loscomb, mezzo-soprano:  "Not Since Nineveh", from Kismet by Forrest & Wright

Hunter Morris, baritone:  "God is my Shepherd", from Biblical Songs by Antonín Dvořák
