FSU Student Davani Cooper to Present Senior Soprano Recital
Frostburg State University student Davani Cooper will present her senior soprano recital on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. James DeWire and on one number by student guest artist Tyavia Jones. This event is free and open to the public.
Cooper’s program will include “When Love Is Kind” by Thomas Moore; “Lachen und Weinin” by Franz Schubert; “Where the Bee Sucks” by Thomas Arne; “Sull’aria … Che soave zeffiretto” from “Le Nozze di Figaro” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Er ist’s” by Hugo Wolf; “Chason D’amour” by Gabriel Fauré; “Star Vicino” by James P. Dunn, arranged by Arthur Schoep; “Noche Serena,” arranged by Edward Kilenyi; “Nuit D’etoiles” by Claude Debussy; “Music for a While” by Henry Purcell; “Ridente la Calma” by Mozart; “I Know That My Redeemer Liveth” from “Messiah” by George Frideric Handel; “Zartliche Liebe” by Ludwig van Beethoven; and “I Attempt From Love’s Sickness” by Purcell.
Cooper studies under Scott Rieker and Dr. Sally Stephenson at FSU. She anticipates graduating in December 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in music studies and plans to become a creative arts director. Cooper is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, Md.
