FSU Student Jasmine Chung to Present Senior Clarinet Recital

Frostburg State University student Jasmine Chung will present her senior clarinet recital, accompanied by pianist Dr. Jay DeWire, Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Chung will open with “Divertimento Nr. 1” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Joining Chung on this piece will be Dr. Mark Gallagher and Sierra Green on clarinet. The recital will also feature “Trois Pièces, Op. 20” by René De Boisdeffre and “Romanze” from Franz Schubert’s opera “Die Verschworenen”(“The Conspirators”), which is a song about a lovers yearning for their true love to come home from traveling. Joining Chung on this piece will be Gallagher on clarinet. The recital will close with the “Sonate” by Paul Hindemith.

Chung studies clarinet with Gallagher at FSU. She is a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for Women and has been listed on the Dean’s List. A 2009 graduate of Oxon Hill High School, Chung expects to graduate from FSU in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Music. She is the daughter of Doret Sinclair of Fort Washington, Md. Chung plans to teach clarinet and general music to homeschooled children, or become a music librarian.
