FSU Student Casey Stahlman to Present Senior Guitar Recital
Frostburg State University student Casey Stahlman will present his senior guitar recital on Sunday, March 30, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.
Stahlman will begin the program with solo works from Cuban guitarist and composer Leo Brouwer, The recital will also feature a sonata by Fernando Carulli, “Lagrima” by Francisco Tarrega, “B Minor Study” by Fernando Sor, “Sarabande” and “Bouree” by Johann Sebastian Bach and “Divertimento” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He will also perform “Romance,” a piece by an unknown composer that is a standard in classical guitar repertoire. The program will conclude with two pieces, “Cancao” and “Faz Hoje um Ano” by Eythor Thorlaksson. For his encore, Stahlman will perform “Knights of Cydonia” by Matthew Bellamy. Joining Stahlman on the ensemble pieces will be Nick Dennison, Seth Carter, Casey Stahlman and Charlie Engleka on guitar.
Stahlman studies guitar with Patrick Sise at FSU. He is a member of the FSU Guitar Ensemble. A 2010 graduate of Hyndman High School, Stahlman expects to graduate from FSU with a bachelor’s in music education. He is the son of Lisa and Frank Stahlman of Hyndman, Pa. Stahlman plans to become a music teacher.
