FSU Student Samantha Donaldson to Present Junior Soprano Recital
Frostburg State University student Samantha Donaldson will present her junior soprano recital on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Yungen and on one piece by student guest artist, soprano Rachel Cox. This event is free and open to the public.
Donaldson will perform “Kommt dir manchmal in den Sinn” from “Zigeunerlieder, Op. 103” by Johannes Brahms, “Bist du bei mir” from “Diomedes” by Johann Sebastian Bach, “Die Nacht” by Richard Strauss, “Le colibri” by Ernest Chausson, “Guitare” from “Feuilles d’album” by Georges Bizet, “Plaisir d’amour” by Johann-Paul Martini, “Care selve” from “Atalanta” and “He Shall Feed His Flock” from “Messiah” by George Frideric Handel, “S’altro che lacrime” from “La Clemenza di Tito” and “Deh vieni, non tardar” from “Le Nozze di Figaro” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “The Crucifixion” from “Hermit Songs” by Samuel Barber, “Early One Morning” and “The Salley Gardens” by Benjamin Britten, “I Attempt From Love’s Sickness” from “The Indian Queen” by Henry Purcell and “Flight” by Craig Carnelia, arranged by Michael Rafter.
Donaldson studies under Francesca Molinaro at FSU. She has been on the Dean’s List and is a recipient of the Music Department Scholarship and the Choral Assistant Scholarship. Donaldson anticipates graduating in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in music – vocal performance. She plans to become a professional vocalist or music therapist. A graduate of Maurice J. McDonough High School in Pomfret, Md., she is the daughter of Charles and Christine Donaldson of White Plains.
