Robert Wallace to Present Junior Guitar Recital at FSU
Frostburg State University student Robert Wallace will present his junior guitar recital on Thursday, May 9, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. He will be assisted by Zachary Dodge on guitar and Ryan Sheally on flute. The recital is free and open to the public.
Wallace will perform “A Breeze From Alabama” and “Peacherine Rag” by Scott Joplin, “Prelude No.1 in E Minor Andantino Expressivo” and “Prelude No. 2 in E Major Andantino” by Heitor Villa-Lobos, “Trois Serenades, Op. 96, No. 1 for Duo Guitare” by Ferdinando Carulli, “Siciliano From Flute Sonata No. 2 in E-flat Major” by Johann Sebastian Bach and “La Milonga” by Christopher Caliendo.
At FSU, Wallace studies music education with Patrick Sise and Pamela Murchison, having previously studied with Stephen Tunstall. He is a board member and instructor at the Tri-State Community School for the Arts in Cumberland. Wallace has received three music scholarships and was selected to represent the FSU Department of Music at the Honors Recital at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. He performed in the FSU President’s Concert in 2012 and was recently selected to perform at the Annapolis Legislative Reception at the Miller Senate Building in Annapolis.
A graduate of Bedford High School, Wallace expects to graduate from FSU in December 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a P-12 Teaching Certificate in Music Education. He plans to teach elementary and middle school band, and continue teaching guitar lessons and hosting free workshops through the Tri-State Community School. He is the son of Robert and Rebecca Wallace of Bedford, Pa.
