FSU Student Michael Barber to Present Junior Baritone Recital
Frostburg State University student Michael Barber will present his junior baritone recital on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. He will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Joseph Yungen. This event is free and open to the public.
Barber’s program will include “Mean to Me” by Fats Waller, “The Masquerade Is Over” by Allie Wrubel, “I Fall in Love Too Easily” by Jule Styne, “Tenderly” by Walter Gross, “Yardbird Suite” by Charlie Parker, “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” by Manning Sherwin, “If I Were a Bell” by Frank Loesser, “Baubles, Bangles and Beads” by Robert Wright and George Forrest,” “’Deed I Do” by Walter Hirsch and Fred Rose and “Easy Living” by Ralph Rainger. For his encore, Barber will perform “Sunny Side of the Street” by Jimmy McHugh.
At FSU, Barber studies under Francesca Molinaro. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and was on the Dean’s List from 2017 to 2018. Barber anticipates graduating in May 2019 and plans to become a recording engineer. The son of Caroline Barber of Eden, Md., he is a graduate of James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury.
