Musicians Egan and Thomas to Perform at Mountain City Traditional Arts

Irish musician Pat Egan and local musician Jeff Thomas will perform traditional Irish music at Mountain City Traditional Arts, 25 E. Main St., Frostburg, on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. This is event is for people of all ages and will feature a children’s craft table.

Egan is a highly regarded singer and guitarist, playing traditional Irish music. Renowned for his impeccable rhythm and rare sensitivity on the guitar, Egan has earned praise at the international level. Egan has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe and has appeared on numerous television shows and radio broadcasts. In 2007, Egan received a Maryland State Arts Council award as a Maryland Traditions Master Ballad Singer. Originally from County Tipperary, Ireland, Egan now resides in Northern Virginia.

Thomas is an accomplished traditional Irish musician from Allegany County. He has been playing the anglo concertina for more than 20 years and has played and recorded with a number of Irish bands. Thomas has traveled throughout the United States and Ireland to perform and conduct concertina workshops. He spends his free time crafting his own line of high-quality Thomas concertinas.

Dedicated to the education, sales, documentation and perpetuation of traditional arts in the mountain region, MCTA is a program of FSU with support from the Allegany Arts Council, FrostburgFirst: A Main Street Community, the FSU Foundation and the Maryland Traditions Program of the Maryland State Arts Council.
