CES presents Trinidadian bandleader and jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles in "Creole Soul" on Friday, April 13. Charles effortlessly taps into the Afro-Caribbean background of his homeland in Trinidad and Tobago. He plumbs the musical depths of the islands, from calypso to Haitian voodoo music, fusing both with the swagger of New Orleans trumpet style.
Immediately following the performance, CES joins forces with Frostburg State University’s own WFWM-FM to present the Offstage Series With WFWM, when station director Chuck Dicken joins the artists onstage for a lively interactive discussion with the audience.
The engagement of Etienne Charles is made possible through the Jazz Touring Network program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
