http://ces.frostburg.edu~Celebrate the heart and soul of American roots music. Jay Ungar and Molly Mason gather inspiration from Appalachian, bluegrass, Cajun, Scandinavian and Celtic traditions along with favorites from the golden age of country, jazz and swing. Their sound morphs from string band to swing band, Cajun band to Celtic band, country band to Civil War-era dance orchestra. “Jay and Molly make music that is simple and overwhelming . . . joyful and full of feeling . . . an apotheosis of American traditional music,” said Garrison Keillor, who worked with the duo as part of his program, A Prairie Home Companion. Filmmaker Ken Burns, who has featured the couple’s music in several of his celebrated PBS documentaries, said, “Jay Ungar and Molly Mason play music from the heart, which reminds us of the best in all of us.”
