An FSU Department of Music event.
The FSU Wind Ensemble will perform its first concert of the fall semester on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. The band is under the direction of Philip Klickman and will feature music by two Japanese composers: “March-Bou-Shu” by Satoshi Yagisawa and “Festal Scenes” by Yasuhide Ito. Both works were inspired by folk songs from various parts of Japan. Another work on the program, “Be Thou My Vision” by David Gillingham, is based on the old Irish ballad “Slane.” British folk music can be heard in Gustav Holst’s “Second Suite in F.” The program is rounded out with a new composition by Brian Balmages titled “Endless Rainbows.”
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 12 and younger. Admission is collected at the door (cash only); no advance tickets or reservations are available.
