FSU Wind Ensemble to Perform on March 2
The Frostburg State University Wind Ensemble will perform a concert in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center on Saturday, March 2, at 8 p.m. The group will play under the direction of Philip Klickman.
The concert will open with “Jupiter,” the melodious centerpiece of Gustav Holst’s seven-movement orchestral suite, “The Planets.” Next, the group will perform “March of the Belgian Parachutists,” the popular march written by Pierre Leemans while he was serving in World War I.
The group will then slow down with “Irish Tune From County Derry” by Percy Grainger, better known as “Londonderry Air,” and speed up again with the patriotic “American Salute” by Morton Gould. They will finish with “Angels in the Architecture” by prominent contemporary composer Frank Ticheli.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children ages 12 and younger. For more information, contact the FSU Music Department at 301-687-4109.
