FSU Opera Theatre: “Heroes, Heroines, Lovers and Villains”

FSU Department of Music to Present Opera Theatre

Frostburg State University’s Department of Music will present its Opera Theatre performance, “Heroes, Heroines, Lovers and Villains,” on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The performances are free and open to the public.

The theatre will perform various arias and scenes from Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers”; Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” “The Magic Flute” and “The Marriage of Figaro”; Cavalli’s “La Calisto”; Cimarosa’s “The Secret Marriage”; Puccini’s “La Bohéme”; Lehar’s “The Merry Widow”; Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “The Elixir of Love”; Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess”; and Copland’s “The Tender Land.”

The Opera Theatre director is Dr. Mariana Mihai-Zoeter and Dr. Jay DeWire is the pianist. The opera performers are sopranos Bailey Kerr, Catey Mayhew, Katie Hendrix and Sakkara Turner; tenors Lane Conklin and Robert Brown; baritone Jonathan Archer; and bass-baritone Matthew Purnell.
