FSU Department of Music to Present Faculty Jazz Ensemble Concert
The Frostburg State University Department of Music will present the Faculty Jazz Ensemble concert, in culmination of Honor Band Festival Weekend on Friday, March 7, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will include “Afrodisia” by Kenny Dorham, a Latin arrangement from the 1955 “Afro/Cuban” album. The performance will also feature “Moon Alley” by Tom Harrell; “Nutville” by Oliver Nelson, which is a bright swing piece; “Cat Battles” from Joshua Redman’s 1996 jazz album “Freedom in the Groove”; “Stadium Jazz” by Donny McCaslin; and “So Tender” by Keith Jarrett, a well-known American jazz and classical pianist.
The FSU Faculty Jazz Ensemble consists of Tom Harrison on piano, Jim Roderick on bass, Marc Lawrence on drums, Bill Green on tenor saxophone, Brent Madsen on trumpet and Brent Weber on alto saxophone.
