FSU to Present Brass Studio Recital
The Frostburg State University Department of Music will present a concert by the Brass Studio on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public.
The Brass Studio program will feature students from the studios of Joshua Long, trombone, euphonium and tuba instructor; Jay Moon, trumpet instructor; and Cecilia Buettgen, French horn instructor. The group will be accompanied by pianist Joseph Yungen.
Performers will include John Sommerfeld, on the trumpet, performing “Adagio” from “Concerto for Trumpet in B-flat” by Joseph Haydn and “The Heavens Declare” by Bennedetto Marcello; Ashlee Gojeski, on the French horn, performing “Nocturno, Op. 7” by Franz Strauss; Hanna Livingston, on the French horn, performing “Concerto No. 1, Op. 11” by Richard Strauss; Chris Kennedy, on the tuba, performing “Introduction and Dance” by J.E. Barat, edited by Glenn Smith; Mark Sebright, on the trombone, with electronic recording, performing “A Doll” by Jim Snidero; Maakeh Boayue, on the trombone, performing “Morceau Symphonique” by Alexandre Guilmant; and DeAndre Cook, on the trombone, performing “Trombone Concerto” by Launy Grandahl.
