Faculty Recital: Steven Soebbing, bass-baritone

FSU Faculty Artist Series to Present Bass-Baritone Steven Soebbing

The Frostburg State University Department of Music Faculty Artist Series will present Dr. Steven Soebbing, bass-baritone, accompanied by pianist Dr. Jay DeWire, on Friday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Soebbing will open with “Per questa bella mano” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a song about the love and faith given to a loved one. The recital will also feature selections from Austrian composer Hugo Wolf’s “Mörike-Lieder,” including “Gebet,” “Der Gärtner” and “Karowche”; “Arise Ye Subterranean Winds” from John Weldon’s “The Tempest”; “When My Cue Comes, Call Me” from Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummers Night’s Dream”; and “My Song Shall Be of Mercy” from Tyler White’s opera “O Pioneers!” The recital will close with the “La Manola de Madrid” by Rafael Taboada Mantilla, which gives praise to the beautiful Madrilenian women of Lavapiés.
