FSU Faculty Artist Series Features Guitarist Patrick Sise and Vocalist Steven Soebbing

The Frostburg State University Department of Music Faculty Artist Series will present a performance by guitarist Patrick Sise and baritone vocalist Dr. Steven Soebbing on Friday, March 8, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center.

Sise, an adjunct instructor at FSU and graduate of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, has played the guitar in a variety of performances across the Northeast, including the 2010 Port Deposit Heritage Corp. Holiday Concert, where he performed with world-renowned organist Donald Sutherland. Soebbing, also an adjunct professor at FSU, has a diverse performance background, having performed in opera as well as concert roles. Additionally, he works as a librettist for composers, regularly collaborating with the composer Garrett Hope, with whom he created an opera.

Sise will perform “Prelude No. 1” by Heitor Villa-Lobos, “Saudade No. 3” by Roland Dyens, “Serenata Espanola” by Joaquin Malats and Johann Kaspar Mertz’s “Le Gondolier, Op. 65, No. 3” and “Fantasie Hongroise, Op. 65, No. 1.” Then Soebbing, accompanied by Sise, will perform “Der Lindenbaum,” “Der Doppelganger” and “Aufenthalt” by Austrian composer Franz Schubert; “Come Again, sweet love doth now invite” and “In darkness let me dwell” by John Dowland; and “El pano moruno,” “Asturiana” and “Polo” by Manuel de Falla.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the FSU Department of Music at 301-687-4109.
