Cultural Events Series presents a Music Workshop with Julie Fowlis

What are the unique features of Gaelic music? Join award-winning Gaelic musician Julie Fowlis in an exciting workshop for experienced musicians. Fowlis will lead attendees through an introduction to the characteristic style, themes and melodic features of Gaelic music and will discuss current and historic musical traditions of the Highlands and Scottish Isles. Participants will learn some basic elements of Gaelic plus one or two short pieces such as a Highland lullaby and puirt-a-beul or mouth music. Participation in the workshop is limited to 10 musicians and pre-registration is required. Observers are welcome.
