FSU’s Cultural Events Series to Present the von Trapp Children in Concert
The Cultural Events Series at Frostburg State University will present a heartwarming holiday performance from the von Trapp children on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of the FSU Performing Arts Center.
These grandchildren of Captain von Trapp continue the musical traditions of their famous family, which was portrayed in the timeless movie, “The Sound of Music.” These young siblings – Sofia, Melanie, Amanda and Justin – will perform folk and classical songs from European and American traditions, as well as holiday classics and timeless pieces from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical that turned von Trapp into a household name.
Tickets are $26 for adults and $21 for youth under 17. Corporate and group discount rates are also available.
To help audiences get into the Von Trapp spirit, CES’ Inspiring Audiences program will offer a free presentation of the film, “The Sound of Music,” on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. in Lane University Center room 111.
For more information, contact the CES box office at 301-687-3137 or visit CES’ website at ces.frostburg.edu.
The Cultural Events Series is sponsored in part by the Allegany Arts Council with funds from the Maryland State Arts Council, and is supported by a grant from MSAC, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business and Economic Development, MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities.
