Frostburg State University Will Cohost International Women’s Month Poetry Slam
Frostburg State University’s Center for Literary Arts and Women’s Studies program will cohost the International Women’s Month Poetry Slam, a competitive reading to mark International Women’s Month, on Tuesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Dante’s Bar at 16 W. Main St. in Frostburg.
Competitors should bring three original poems with language that explores feminist themes, such as the expression of gender, marginalized experiences, misogyny, inequality or any other relevant concept. Poets will be judged by a panel based on their reading performance, the quality of their work and that work’s connection to the theme.
This event is open to any poet 16 years of age or older, with no cost to enter or attend. Sign-up starts at 7 p.m. for those who wish to participate. The event itself will begin at 7:30 p.m. The winning poet will receive a cash prize of $100.
