FSU Center for Creative Writing Presents New York Lounge Night Fundraiser
Come support the Frostburg State University Center for Creative Writing at New York Lounge Night, a fundraiser night of poetry and piano on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8:30 p.m. in the Lyric Theater on Main Street in Frostburg. Mary Edwards will perform piano and sing and New York poet George Guida will read, along with other poets and writers from the area. Tickets are $15 and available for purchase through Main Street Books, the Allegany Arts Council and the Center for Creative Writing.
Edwards, whose most recent album is “Eastern/Central and Mountain/Pacific,” writes and performs songs that fuse pop, jazz and soul with a styling that has been described as cinema for the ear. Guida’s fiction, poetry and criticism appear in many journals and anthologies, including “Alimentum,” “Barrow Street,” “Controlled Burn,” “Florida English,” “Hurricane Blues,” “Inkwell” and others.
The event will feature a cash bar and light fare. There will be a raffle for the opportunity to relive this night with Edward’s CDs, Guida’s books, a bottle of wine and other surprises.
