Census Bureau American FactFinder Database Workshops Set at FSU

Community members can explore the demographic and economic planning tools available through the U.S. Census Bureau at a pair of workshops to be offered on Friday, April 3, in Frostburg State University’s Lewis J. Ort Library. Participants will practice using the American FactFinder and other online databases to quickly and easily find information and statistics on communities across the nation. The events are free and open to the public, but participants should register by Friday, March 20.

This data can be used in a variety of ways, including marketing, business planning, mapping, urban planning, community activism or simply researching a question or two. The workshops will be led by Nesreen Khashan, a data dissemination specialist with the Census Bureau.

The second workshop, “Census Bureau Statistics – Demographics and Economic Programs for Intermediate Users,” covers more advanced tools for current users and will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Participants can attend one or both workshops.

Openings in each session are limited. To register, use the form found at http://libguides.frostburg.edu/affseminar. For information, contact Lisa Hartman at lahartman@frostburg.edu or 301-687-4734.
