Mayhew to Present Senior Soprano Recital at FSU
Frostburg State University’s Department of Music presents Catherine Mayhew’s senior soprano recital on Saturday, April 6, at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. She will be accompanied by pianist Dr. Jay DeWire and Michael Murphy on the string bass. The performance is free and open to the public.
Mayhew’s performance will feature music from Franz Schubert, Reynaldo Hahn, Jean-Phillipe Rameau, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Aaron Copland.
With a major in FSU’s Department of Music, Mayhew studies with Dr. Steven Soebbing, having previously studied with Dr. William Koehler and Dr. Karen Soderberg. She is the president of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity, a Bobcat Ambassador and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society. A 2009 graduate of Chopticon High School, Mayhew expects to graduate from FSU in May 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in music. She plans to continue with graduate studies in conducting and musicology to be a choir conductor. She is the daughter of Tony and Catherine Mayhew of Charlotte Hall.
