The Frostburg Center for Creative Writing will run its second annual Broadsides and More Project featuring a juried art exhibition, an Art and Writing workshop and an ekphrastic poetry chapbook collection. Regional artists are invited to submit visual art including, but not limited to, sculpture, painting or drawing that incorporates some or all of a text of a poem. The ekphrastic poetry chapbook is looking for poems that are based on artwork.
Work will be juried by artist and writer Steve Sherrill, an associate professor of English and integrative arts at Penn State Altoona. Students may submit art and poems for free and community members may submit works for a fee of $10.
The Art and Writing workshop will take place on Saturday, March 29, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Center for Creative Writing at 22 E. Main St. in Frostburg and will guide and instruct students on the relationship between visual art and writing, discussing both.
Attendees should bring their own materials for this workshop. For info, contact Michelle Yost at firstname.lastname@example.org or call x4340.
